For single mothers, raising kids is a major challenge of life. They have to take on twice the responsibility, playing roles of both mother and father.
The goal of our Marie Curie Single Mother Scholarship is to share burden of such brave mothers and ensure quality K-11 education of their children.
The scholarship is named after Marie Curie, (1867—1934), a scientist and the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. After the death of her husband, Marie raised her two young daughters alone. Later, one of the daughters, Irène Joliot-Curie, went on to co-win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
